Description:
This mini-symposium aims to bring together researchers, engineers, vibration analysts, and industry practitioners working on experimental vibro-acoustic problems in pumping systems. The session focuses on the measurement, analysis, and control of vibration, structural-borne noise, and air-borne noise generated due to hydraulic excitation, rotor unbalance, bearing response, impeller vane passing frequency, electro-mechanical excitation, structural resonance, and interaction between rotating and stationary components.

Contributions involving FFT and 1/3-octave analysis, operational noise testing, vibration isolation, modal analysis, numerical correlation, and industrial case studies on centrifugal pumps, vertical pumps, horizontal pumps, and motor-driven pumping systems are especially welcome.

Description

This mini-symposium focuses on the design and development of an intelligent online condition monitoring system for gearbox high-speed shafts in cableway applications, including gondola lifts and chairlifts. The study is motivated by operational challenges observed in high-demand systems, where gearbox failures—particularly in input shaft bearings—can lead to unplanned downtime and critical service interruptions.

The proposed framework integrates vibration and temperature sensing, optimized sensor placement, and advanced data acquisition systems to enable continuous monitoring of gearbox health. A key contribution is the development of an intelligent anomaly detection model based on historical failure data, FMEA prioritization, and multi-sensor data fusion. The system is capable of issuing early warnings, predicting failure timelines, and initiating emergency shutdown commands in critical conditions.

The symposium will cover benchmarking of global monitoring practices, cost-benefit-driven system design, and implementation challenges in real-world cableway infrastructure. It aims to bridge the gap between traditional maintenance approaches and predictive, data-driven asset management in safety-critical transport systems.

Description:

Wave propagation in periodic structures and metamaterials is an active research field with growing relevance to engineering problems involving vibration, noise and structural dynamics. Periodicity can be exploited to modify dispersion characteristics, create attenuation bands, localise energy, and control interactions between structural and acoustic waves. This mini-symposium aims to provide a forum for discussing recent advances and current challenges in the modelling, analysis, optimisation, and experimental characterisation of periodic vibro-acoustic systems. It also seeks to promote interaction among researchers in structural dynamics, acoustics, solid and fluid mechanics, computational mechanics, and metamaterials.
